Comments
This app is based on the Tortoise and the Hare fable. The tortoise has already won his trophy from winning his race with the hare, which is a good opportunity to find and read the original fable together first. The screen is very interactive to touch and allows exploration as the story continues. Certain elements respond to touches with other information or changes i.e. changing from night to day. There are options for subtitles to be turned on and off, however letters are not highlighted as they are read. The app asks questions for children and adults to answer together i.e. 'what do you think he is reading?', which can lead to further questions to explore. There are also good opportunities for adults and children to talk about ownership and behaviour, as the animals steal Hare's trophy and he has to get it back. There are fun little game options also available: including 'Tap a mole' (finding the mole among other animals) and puzzles (one within the story also). Ten language options available.
Other notable themes and features of the app include Bilingual, Fables, Multilingual, Stories, UK dialect.
